Paige Outstanding Kiwanis Advisor is designed to recognize outstanding Kiwanis advisors who epitomize Kiwanis’ ideals supporting Key Clubs through their commitment to service. Tony Perea/Carol Wallander Outstanding Faculty Advisor Named in honor of two outstanding faculty advisors for their years of service in the Rocky Mountain District, the Tony Perea/Carol Wallander Outstanding Faculty Advisor is designed to recognize outstanding faculty advisors whose personal involvement, counseling, leadership, and encouragement help their club have outstanding years of service. RMD Key of Honor The Rocky Mountain District Key of Honor is the highest recognition presented by the RockyMountain District of Key Club International to an adult (a Kiwanian, Advisor, Parent,Community Member, etc.) who has a record of outstanding contributions to Key Club withinthe District. Gold Starfish The Gold Starfish Recognition pin is a special version reserved for those who, in the opinion of the District Administrator, have made a significant difference for the Rocky Mountain District of Key Club. There is no quota for presentation of the Gold Starfish Recognition. Rather, they are presented as the need arises. Silver Starfish The Silver Starfish is given to District Board Members to recognize someone who made a difference for them over the course of their service year. Annually at DCON, each Board member is given one pin to present to an individual of their choosing – a family member, advisor, fellow Key Clubber, friend – anyone who made a difference for them during their year on the board. The only requirement is that they cannot keep the pin for themselves. RMD Sandy Nininger Award The Sandy Nininger medal was created for Key Club members who distinguish themselves by making the most of their opportunities. Like Sandy, these members inspire us all to care deeply, engage enthusiastically, and make the most of our lives. The Rocky Mountain District Sandy Nininger Award was established to recognize outstanding contributions by Key Clubbers from within the District. The recognition is for those who’ve gone above and beyond what is expected during their Key Club career. To be a registered Key Club you must pay dues for your club. Check out the process here. paying dues Paying dues is an integral part to keeping Key Club running. Key Club dues are annual membership fees that help cover the administrative costs of running the international organization, district programs, and local club materials. These fees register you as a member, and they open the door to many resources and benefits. All dues must be paid by December 1, but if you send them in by November 1, your club will be recognized with the Early Bird Award at the District Convention! Dues are generally split up three ways: International dues are $10.00 District dues are $8.00 Club dues average $6.00; making dues $24.00 on average, but this is determined by club. If you are the person in your club responsible for submitting the dues, look at the document below and or the Key Club International dues page for additional information. Key Club is all about service. Check out the projects that district has done here. Key Club Partners Projects The Rocky Mountain District supports one big project each year, while encouraging clubs to support Key Club International's partners. For more information on specific partners, go to the project's individual website. Some of the projects can be seen under the "Projects" tab. During DCON, our district typically hosts a small service project that all attendees can help out with! We also have booths set up with representatives from different organizations. Key Club is an international organization for high school students to perform service and be leaders in their home, school and community. With 200,000 members and 38 districts world-wide, we are making real change in our world with our community partners and charities. There's an organization or club for every age group. From childhood to adulthood, you can help serve with others in the K-Family! Kids: Terrific Kids, K-Kids, Bring Up Grades Teens: Builder's Club, Key Club, Key Leader Adults: Circle-K, Aktion Club, Kiwanis Key club structure Because Key Club is so large and is led by students, there is a solid structure that allows it to function. Most likely, there's a Key Club at your school made up of officers, like the president, vice president, secretary, etc. Your school is part of a division (to see which one, click here ) and a district (the Rocky Mountain District if you live in Colorado, Wyoming, or New Mexico). There are a couple schools in each division with a Lieutenant Governor (Lt. G) in charge of each. The president of your club files a monthly report to the district secretary. Also, the Lt. G creates a monthly newsletter to inform the clubs of what's been going on. Each year, your Lt. G should hold two divisional rallies. The District is divided among divisions. The District Board is made up of officers who are elected at district convention: governor, secretary, treasurer and bulletin editor. Lieutenant Governors are also board members- they elected by the clubs in their division which they represent. Additionally the board will have district chairs: tech chair, social media chair, projects & fundraising chair and convention chair. Chairs are appointed by the officers. The international level has a board. Positions include the international president and vice president, and the 12 trustees. Every year, the International Convention (often abbreviated as ICON ) takes place where thousands of Key Clubbers across the world come together to elect the international board, review accomplishments of the past year and set policies for the coming year. The first Key Club was created at Sacramento High School in 1925. 2. What does the KEY in Key Club stand for? The “Key Boys” were the popular boys at Sacramento High School who started the first Key Club to give back to their community. 3. John F. Kennedy was present at the 1956 convention in Washington D.C. before he was elected to be president in 1960. 4. Females were not allowed in Key Club until 1976. 5. Past Key Club members include Bill Clinton, Elvis Presley, and Brad Pitt. 6. There are over 250,000 members! 7. Every Key Club official color has a meaning: blue stands for unwavering character, gold stands for service, and white stands for purity. 8. Current Florida senator Bill Nelson is a past Key Club International President. 9. As of 2022, Key Club has 38 member nations, and clubs exist on every continent except Antarctica. 10. Originally, Key Club adopted the Kiwanis International motto “We Build” as its own. However, the motto was changed in 1978 to “Caring - Our Way of Life,” because it was thought that this motto better reflected the passion the Key Clubbers have for serving the world.

Past Projects The Rocky Mountain District Key Club has partnered with organizations to raise awareness and funds for current economic and social issues. Start by reading about them! 2024-2025 trick or treat for unicef 2024-2025 Trick or Treat for UNICEF is a popular service project that happens around Halloween (hence the name). All the proceeds raise from collecting change go to sending maternal/neonatal tetanus vaccines to third world countries. Find out more 2024-2025 Donations Click here to donate to Ronald McDonald Click here to donate to UNICEF Donations 2023 Thanks to the Rocky Mountain District Kiwanis Foundation for providing 100% of the funding for the 2023 DCON service project For this year's DCON Service Project attendees help pack 150 backpacks for homeless youth. Each backpack included a water bottle with fun stickers, boxer shorts, deodorant, lotion, razors, hand sanitizer, trail mix, fruit cups and gold fish crackers. DCON attendees each also wrote personal notes of encouragement for each backpack. The backpacks were then delivered to Urban Peak in Denver to be distributed to those in need.
