board application

Are you ready to take your leadership to the next level?  Each spring, Key Club members from across the Rocky Mountain District have the opportunity to run for district office.  Positions include Governor, Secretary, Treasurer, Bulletin Editor, Lieutenant Governor, and Committee Chairs.  Serving on the District Board is an incredible way to grow as a leader, make new friends, and make a real difference for clubs across Colorado, Wyoming, the Nebraska Panhandle, and beyond.  Candidates prepare speeches and caucus with members to share their vision for the year ahead.  If you’re passionate about service and want to help shape the future of our district, seeking office is your chance to shine!

Executive Office

The Executive Officers are the top student leaders of the Rocky Mountain District.  They’re elected each year at District Convention to help guide the district, support clubs, and represent our members at Key Club International events.  The team includes the District Governor, Secretary, Treasurer, and District Bulletin Editor.

  • The District Governor is the chief executive officer of the Rocky Mountain District and a member of the Key Club International Council.  They lead the District Board and help set goals and direction for the year.

  • The District Secretary keeps everyone connected by recording meetings and sharing important updates.

  • The District Treasurer manages the district’s finances and helps clubs stay on track with dues.

  • The District Bulletin Editor designs newsletters, creates social media content, and helps tell the story of Key Club across the Rocky Mountain District.

Together, the Executive Officers make sure the district runs smoothly, communicates clearly, and keeps every member informed and inspired.

Lieutenant Governors

Lieutenant Governors (LTGs) are the connection between the district and local clubs.  Each LTG works with clubs in their division to share news, offer support, and build community.  They check in with club officers, help plan divisional service projects or rallies, and encourage members to get involved beyond their own school.  LTGs also serve on the District Board, representing the ideas and concerns of the clubs they lead.  They’re your go-to person for help, information, and inspiration!  Lieutenant Governors are elected annually at their respective division’s spring rally.

Appointed Committee Chairs

Appointed by the District Governor after DCON and approved by the District Board, Committee Chairs help lead district-wide projects and initiatives.  Each chair focuses on a specific area - Technology/District Webmaster, District Convention, Membership & K-Family, Governance, and Projects & Fundraising.  They work with a team to create resources and opportunities for clubs.  They help bring big ideas to life across the Rocky Mountain District!  Committee Chairs may not always be in the spotlight, but their hard work behind the scenes helps make every event, program, and goal a success.

Candidates for International Endorsement

Candidates for International Endorsement are Rocky Mountain District members who aspire to serve in a Key Club International office, including International President, Vice President, or Trustee.  Before they can run at the International Convention, they must first earn the district’s official endorsement.  These candidates undergo an election process at the District Convention, just like the Executive Officers.

Once endorsed, they represent the Rocky Mountain District at the International Convention during that election process, sharing their vision for Key Club’s future and showcasing what makes our district truly exceptional!

Jackalope Team

The Jackalope Team is a newly established role this year, created to intentionally engage Key Club alumni in meaningful, hands-on leadership and event support.  While many districts refer to similar roles as “convention interns,” the Jackalope Team is designed specifically for our district’s culture, scale, and commitment to professionalism. Jackalope Team members will work closely with the District Administrator, Admin Team, District Board, advisors, and YMCA Staff to support the planning and execution of DCON—helping ensure a smooth, welcoming, and high-quality experience for our members.

Jackalope Team members will support areas such as:

  • Registration and hospitality

  • Workshop, forum, and session logistics

  • House of Delegates and elections support

  • Service projects, talent, and oratory contests

  • General session operations and attendee assistance

This role is ideal for college students or young professionals who want to stay connected to Key Club, give back to the district, and gain practical leadership and event experience.  Former district and club leaders are especially encouraged to apply.
